The French AS12/SS12 missile was an anti-ship and battlefield support missile. It was an enlarged SS11 that is heavier, faster and has a slightly greater range. The AS12 was the air-launched variant and the SS12 was the ship-launched version. The AS12 was originally designed as an anti-ship missile for naval helicopters and combat aircraft, with some light anti-fortification capabilities.
