The General Dynamics/Grumman EF-111A Tactical Jamming System (TJS) was based on the F-111A variable-geometry strike aircraft. (The basic F-111 and its strategic/theater bomber variant, the FB-111, are described in separate database entries.) Forty-two aircraft were extensively modified to carry a comprehensive electronic warfare (EW) suite that detected, located, classified, and counteracted hostile radars, as well as suppression of enemy air def enses (SEAD) missions.
