A private venture between Boeing and Northrop Grumman, the EA-18G Growler is replacing the U.S. Navy's aging fleet of EA-6B Prowler carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft. It is based on the F/A-18F Super Hornet Block II. With 90 percent of its parts in common with the F/A-18F, the EA-18G is expected to significantly save on training and support costs for the Navy (for descriptions of airframe and engines, see the F/A-18E/F Super Hornet record).
