The CH-47 Chinook (H-47) is a heavy-lift cargo helicopter used primarily by the U.S. Army and other international customers. The Chinook is similar in basic design to the U.S. Navy/Marine Corps CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter. Beginning in 1982 and ending in 1994, all CH-47A, B and C models were upgraded to the CH-47D version (see variants section). The latest version is the CH-47F (see separate record.)
