Alpha Jet attack aircraft

The Alpha Jet is a light attack/trainer/close air support aircraft co-produced by Germany and France for use by both partners and for export. Those built for Germany were originally known as Alpha Jet A ( appui, attack) and used only in a close air support role. The French Alpha Jets were designated Alpha Jet E (ecole, school) and are used as trainers. The differences between the two versions are confined to avionics and the shape of the nose. Export variants combine both roles.
