Air Force Announces Early Retirement For A-10 Warthog

The U.S. Air Force’s latest budget request, issued on June 26, asks Congress for permission to retire its A-10 Thunderbolt II (nicknamed Warthog) close air support (CAS) aircraft in 2026, two years before originally planned. The service operates 162 of the aircraft currently. Per the request, the cost of early retirement would be around $57 million.
