OVERVIEW

After the Montenegrin-Serbian split in 2006, the Serbian military began to reorganize, rebuild and modernize its forces. The military underwent two phases of reconstruction, in 2007 and 2010.

Both the air force and army have air defense elements. The army has indigenous air defense elements in each battalion.

The land forces of the Serbian army are organized into:

   1 land force command HQ
   3 (2nd, 3rd and 4th) mechanized brigades, each with
