OVERVIEW

The former Yugoslav Air and Air Defense Force (JRV PVO) -- formally disbanded in May 1992 -- was considerably transformed after the breakup of Yugoslavia in June 1991. Its poor performance against the militaries of Slovenia, Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina throughout 1991-1992 also spurred major reorganization and training initiatives under the administration of President Slobodan Milosevic.
