Ongoing Programs and Future Requirements

Trinidad’s 2012 defense budget stipulated that an existing US$157 stipend given to some members of the protective services would be extended to the fire and prison services, as well as the defense force. This raise bumped the nation’s defense budget. The military announced in August 2014 that it had launched a five-year human resource initiative aimed at improving recruitment, training, pay methods and career management systems.
