Trinidad and Tobago is an island nation located in the Caribbean, not far from Venezuela. It was formerly part of the British overseas empire and is still under the protection of the U.K.

It is a member of the 15-nation Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and participates in military exercises with CARICOM members.

Domestic defense capacity is limited. All aircraft are maintained by external contractors. Some patrol boats have been built domestically.
