On Sept. 13, 2026, the U.K. Royal Air Force announced the deployment of an A400M Atlas aircraft to Powidz, Poland, for a joint exercise with Polish pilots. The deployment follows repeated airspace violations by Russian drones into Polish, German, and Romanian airspace.

Boeing and Anduril Advance in Army's Midrange Interceptor Competition

On Sept. 9, 2026, Anduril announced that the U. S. Army selected it and Boeing to advance to the next phase of the Integrated Fires Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 Second Interceptor competition. The proposed system combines Boeing' s seeker technology and compact airframe with Anduril’s solid rocket motor. This integration delivers a mass-producible, midrange interceptor designed to fill the operational gap between short-range point defense and long-range air defense systems.

Northrop Grumman and SandboxAQ Demonstrate Quantum Navigation on Lumberjack UAS

Northrop Grumman and SandboxAQ completed a successful joint demonstration of quantum-sensing navigation on the Lumberjack uncrewed aircraft system (UAS), announced on Sept. 9, 2026. The test showed that the Group 3 UAS can resist jamming in GPS-denied environments by using Earth' s magnetic field for navigation, while also demonstrating its ability to run multiple demonstrations to boost military training efficiency.

Safran and MBDA Chosen to Produce New Strike Capability for France

On Sept. 10, 2026, Safran announced that it and MBDA received approval from the French Defense Procurement Agency to produce France' s new long-range land strike capability under the THUNDART program. To execute the program, Safran and MBDA plan to establish a joint venture to lead development. Designed to replace France' s ground-launched Unitary Rocket Launcher, a variant of the M270 Multiple Launch Rocket System, THUNDART will give the nation full operational autonomy by 2030.
