SAR Lupe is a five-satellite military reconnaissance system named after synthetic aperture radar (SAR) and Lupe, the German word for "magnifying glass."
Operating 24 hours a day in all weather conditions, the satellites provide the German military with imagery of nearly every region on Earth at a resolution of at least 1 meter. The system features flight-proven technology alongside an innovative, integrated platform and SAR sensor design.
