The NMRS (an acronym for Near-Term Mine Reconnaissance System) was a submarine-launched, unmanned underwater vehicle (UUV) based on existing wire-guided torpedo technology and deployed from 1998 to 2003 under a demonstration program. Its results led to development of new designs such as the AN/BLQ-11 Long-Range Mine Reconnaissance System (LMRS) and the Mission-Reconfigurable UUV System (MRUUVS), which ended development in 2008.
