The GhostSwimmer autonomous undersea vehicle (AUV) is an experimental system based in part on the mechanics of fish and marine mammals. The AUV resembles a tuna.

The project aims at overcoming problems with existing torpedo-shaped unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs), such as poor maneuverability, particularly in shallow waters. Significant payload space must also be provided for batteries, which contributes to limited endurance and control issues.
