These fast patrol craft were the first of their kind to be built for the U.S. Navy since the Vietnam War and among the largest of their type ever procured for the Navy. They are based on the British-built Egyptian navy RAMADAN-class missile boats and intended to patrol U.S. coastlines as well as covertly deploying U.S. Navy Sea-Air-Land (SEAL ) teams.
