The GUAM-class high-speed transport ships are former commercial vessels in service with the U.S. Navy. The high-speed catamarans were originally built for Hawaii Superferry by Austal USA, but were withdrawn from service and transferred initially to the U.S. Maritime Administration and later to the Navy.
