The SSQ-954 is a G-size miniature passive DIFAR (direction finding and ranging) sonobuoy. The SSQ-954D has the capabilities of the SSQ-904 passive sonobuoy plus passive echo ranging to pinpoint the bearing of the target. The depth, lifespan and radio frequency channel of the sonobuoy can be selecte d remotely.
