The DSTV 2K was a passive sonobuoy that detects submarine noises and then transmitted the data to the monitoring aircraft or any listening station having a suitable receiver. The system included a low frequency amplifier that amplified the signals received by the hydrophone, a VHF frequency modulat ion transmitter and an electrical unit with cells activated by sea water.
