description

The BI series of passive sonobuoys was especially designed for use in the sea conditions prevailing in the Mediterranean. It could be dropped by a variety of fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft.

status

Initial operational capability (IOC) with the Italian navy in 1979-1980. No longer in production or service. About 12,000 were manufactured through 1986.
