The Type 2054 was designed specifically for the new British VANGUARD-class missile submarine. The system consists of a towed array, active and passive sonars and an intercept system.
Signal processing in Type 2054 is entirely digital. The signals provide bearing, range, target motion and torpedo-detection capabilities.
The Type 2054 has a Sub-Harpoon missile targeting capability.
