The Type 2051 digital, passive sonar system, known as Triton , was designed to update OBERON-class diesel-electric attack submarines. It is the British equivalent of the French Eledone sonar. The system consists of an active bow-dome sonar (32 beams), a passive array sonar and a passive towed array.

Initial operational capability (IOC) 1986 in the now-defunct OBERON-class submarines OPPOSSUM and OTTER. No longer in service.
