The IPD 70 is an integrated, active and passive submarine attack sonar system. The IPD 70 includes a low-frequency, high-directivity, very-long-range, passive conformal array that operates at frequencies ranging from 7.5 kHz to 220 Hz.
A separate, cylindrical array is housed in a glass-reinforced plastic hull dome and incorporates the active sonar, the high-frequency passive sonar and the intercept system.
