The EDO 700E is the latest version of a U.S.-built, medium-range, hull-mounted sonar intended for export. A variable-depth sonar (VDS) version is available, known as the EDO 700/701.

The system is designed for control by a single operator. The 13 kHz system uses a 495-mm by 787-mm, 24-stave transducer that weighs 873 pounds (397 kilograms).
