The DSBV 61 is a passive, towed-array sonar system that consists of a linear array; cable and winch; and on-ship processing gear contained in five cabinets. It carries about 50 microphones.
The towed body can be towed by itself or attached to the DUBV 43 variable-depth sonar (VDS) body.
status
The system was originally designed by CIT-Alcatel, which later became Thomson Sintra, then Thomson Marconi Sonar, and currently Thales Underwater Systems.
