The ASO 90 is a series of sonar systems that have been developed from the earlier DSQS-21 sonars.
Governing the sonar's operation is an MPR 2300 computer based on Motorola 68030 25-MHz microprocessors and programmed in Ada. Modes include passive or active detection, active target classification, operation as an underwater telegraph and telephone, ray path and sound intensity, back-up and test.
