AN/SQS-40

The AN/SQS-40 was a modification of the AN/SQS-30 sonar (see separate database entry). The SQS-40 was equipped to provide Steered Directional Transmission (SDT) that allowed the Rotating Directional Transmission (RDT) capability of the earlier system to track a target continuously.

The operating frequency is 10 KHz.

Initial operational capability approx 1960. No longer in production or in service.
