The AN/BQR-21 was a hull-mounted passive detection and tracking sonar for submarines. It was the digital version of the BQR-2B system. The BQR-21 had digital multibeam steering (DIMUS) and was used with the AN/BQR-24 signal processor. The system employed both analog and digital processing techniques, and could detect targets at distances up to 100 mi (160km). Up to five targets could be tracked at a time. The transducers were arranged on a hull-mounted conformal array.
