The AN/BQR-15 is a passive detection system for submarines. The set includes a thin line towed array (9080 thin line) and the AN/BQR-23 signal processor. The array cable is 2,640 ft (800 m) long with a diameter of 0.5 in (12 mm).
The winch has a hydraulic drive that allows the array to be streamed, retrieved or adjusted while the submarine is submerged.
Under optimal conditions, the BQR-15 can be deployed in as little as 15 minutes.
