The British Type 992Q is a medium-range, general-purpose radar that operates both as a search radar and as a target designator for surface warships. The narrow, cylindrical, slotted wave-guide antenna is fitted on a fully stabilized mounting atop either the foremast or mainmast of several British w arship classes. The 992Q is a development of the earlier 992, a long-range surveillance radar fitted in several British warships in the 1950s.
