The British Type 275 fire-control radar was designed during World War II and entered service soon after the war. It is a dual-purpose radar, being able to track both surface and aircraft targets. Only a few ex-British ships still have the radar.
The Type 275 has an unusual antenna configuration when compared to more modern radars; the sending and receiving antennas are fitted separately in an elevating assembly that is mounted on a secondary gun director.
