The French CASTOR IIJ is the most recent of the Castor series of export-oriented fire-control radars for small combatants. The radar is usually supplied as part of the Vega fire-control system.
The trials version of the Castor IIJ had an elliptical Cassegrain lens with a long vertical axis in place of the circular Cassegrain lens of earlier marks. Deployed examples and later Thomson promotional literature show a parabolic dish with central feed. Changes in the radar's design...
