The Italian RAN-3L (MM/SPS-768) is a large, two-dimensional shipboard radar. The RAN-3L's principal role is air search, and its main video output is to an air plot.
A surface plot feed is also available, as is synthesized video, which is diverted to computers. Development of the initial version began in 1968; the latest variant is fully digital (except for the final RF power amplifier tube).
