The ELM-2258 Advanced Lightweight Phased-Array (ALPHA) naval radar is a multi-function, solid-state, active phased-array system designed for integration with medium warships. It uses the same S-band transmit/receive modules as the four-face, static ELM-2248 (see separate record).

The radar antenna consists of a lightweight rotating/scanning, two-dimensional active array that operates in the S band. The antenna is mechanically rotated.
