The Astral is a long-range, 3-D surveillance, acquisition and targeting radar. It is based on the DRBV 26C Jupiter (see separate database entry) and uses a similar, but doubled, solid-state transmitter.

The software is programmed in Ada. Astral's digital pulse compression employs Doppler speed filtering (phase-coded).
