This U.S. air search radar is a redesigned AN/SPS-6 made heavier to withstand a greater wind force. The antenna is a parabolic horn-fed and rotates at 2.5 to 15 rpm. Emits 500-kW pulses of 4-microsecond duration with pulse repetition frequency (PRF) of 300 pulses per second (pps) in standard long-r ange mode, of 1-microsecond duration with PRF of 600 pps in alternate mode. Beam is 3.3 deg X 30 deg.
