The AN/TPS-77 is a three-dimensional long-range air surveillance radar derived from the AN/FPS-117 (see separate record). The system employs the array central enclosure of the AN/FPS-117 combined with the hinged, row feed used by the AN/TPS-59 . This arrangement allows the full array to be carried on a truck or trailer.
