The AN/TPS-70 is a long-range, land-based, transportable, 3D tactical surveillance radar. It also was evaluated as an anti-tactical ballistic missile (ATBM) radar.

The basic system (TPS-43) consists of a planar array antenna and an operations cabin. The TPS-70 is the export version. A platform supports the antenna. The whole unit may be mounted at fixed installations. A second antenna, for the identification-friend-or-foe (IFF) subsystem, is located atop the main array.
