The AN/PPS-5 is a battlefield surveillance radar. The system is designed to detect and locate individuals at ranges up to 5,470 yd (5,000 m) and groups of personnel or small vehicles at ranges up to 10,940 yd (10,000 m). The system is silent while scanning and can be monitored through headphones (aural Doppler processing) for maximum stealth.
