The AN/FPS-89 is a nodding-beam radar derived from the AN/FPS-6 (see separate database entry). Like the FPS-6, the FPS-89 may be erected on an open tower, installed in a special Arctic tower configuration with a radome, or set up on a mobile platform.
Produced in the early 1970s; no longer in production. Current service status not available.
Lockheed Martin (formerly General Electric Company) Syracuse, N.Y. License-built in Italy as the FPS-89S.
