The AN/FPS-24 is a fixed-station, high-power search radar designed for effective operation even under heavy jamming conditions. It is installed in a radome on a six-story tower; the tower is hardened against heavy winds up to 150 kts.
Initial operational capability (IOC) on June 30, 1968. No longer in service. The last operational unit was in Port Austin AFS, Mich.
