The Arabel is a 3D passive, phased-array fire-control radar, that serves as the front end of the SAAM-F point defense missile system.

The SAAM-F consists of the Arabel radar, a vertical launcher built by Alenia, and the Aerospatiale Aster 15 missile. It is part of FSAF (future surface-to-air family), a joint venture by Aerospatiale, Alenia and Thomson-CSF.

The phased-array antenna includes 4,000 transmit/receive elements.
