The Scimitar is an active shipboard jammer designed specifically for use with the RAPIDS and CANEWS passive intercept systems, although it can be used with most types of electronic support measures systems.
The name Scimitar is derived from "system for countering interdiction missiles and target acquisition radars." It is the NATO version of Ramses (reprogrammable advanced multimode shipborne ECM system).
