The Italian Newton shipboard electronic warfare system integrates the ELT/211 electronic support measures (ESM) unit with one to four electronic counter-measures (ECM) systems. Newton is a modular system, using the ELT/211 as a basic block and adding noise jammers or deception jammers (or both). Th e Newton system also interacts with ship's radars, chaff launchers, and gun and missile fire control systems.
