The HOFIN (Hostile Fire Indicator) was a passive warning system designed for helicopters. The system was responsive to supersonic projectiles.
HOFIN consisted of three units -- the sensor array, the computer unit and the indicator unit.
The sensor array was mounted on the underside of the helicopter. Four sensor "arms" connected in the center at 90-degree intervals made up the array, with an additional central arm perpendicular to the others.
