The BIRDIE (bispectral infrared decoy improved efficiency) countermeasure is a self-protection system designed for use from helicopters, transport and jet aircraft. It is available in two sizes, BIRDIE 118 (1 in x 1 in x 8 in) and BIRDIE 218 (2 in x 1 in x 8 in).

The system replicates the aircraft's signature in the mid-wave infrared spectrum. The flare is able to decoy modern surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles, including those with two-color ratio discrimination.
