This U.S.-designed system acquires, classifies, identifies, localizes and tracks the movements of ships, aircraft and submarines, as well as fixing land-based sites. The ARI 18240/2, an export-oriented system, is a variant of EW-1017 electronic support measures (ESM) equipment developed for the Nim rod Mk 2 maritime reconnaissance aircraft.
