The AN/WLR-8(V) is a shipborne digital surveillance and analysis receiver for both surface ships and submarines.

The system has a modular design and consists of seven superheterodyne radio frequency tuners and two digital computers: Sylvania PSP-300 for signal control, automatic signal acquisition, analysis and file processing, and GTE PSP-200 microcomputer for hardware-level central functions.

The WLR-8 is compatible with NTDS (Navy Tactical Data System).
