The AN/ALQ-189 is an airborne deception jammer that is a development and upgraded version of the ALQ-137. The system is power managed and uses a wide-band crystal video set-on receiver. The ALQ-189 has three operating modes: repeater, continuous wave noise and transponder. It also has three subsystems covering the E/F, G/H and I/J bands.
