The AN/ALQ-176(V) was a pod-mounted jamming system designed to fulfill electronic countermeasures (ECM) support, standoff jamming and combat evaluation and training missions.

The ALQ-176 system consisted of transmitter modules and antennas, housed in canisters to form a pod with a 10-in (25-cm) diameter. The pod could be mounted on aircraft stores/munitions stations on either the wing or fuselage; it could be powered using aircraft internal power or a ram air turbine.
