The AN/ALQ-142 is an electronic support measure (ESM) system. It is a repurposed SLQ-32 (V)1/2 on SH-60B/S-70B Seahawk helicopters as part of the Light Airborne Multipurpose System (LAMPS). The ALQ-142 is data-linked to the shipboard SLQ-32 electronic warfare (EW) system.
In its primary anti-submarine warfare (ASW) role, the system extends a fleet's surveillance range by acquiring a hostile submarine's radar emissions and determining its bearing.
